Wandsworth Grant fund re-opens

Round 5 of the Wandsworth Grant Fund for community and voluntary groups is opening to receive applications for local projects that will benefit the residents of the borough.

A series of events will be held in the coming weeks to provide information on how to apply to the Wandsworth Grant Fund. The first is on Monday 13th March at Roehampton BASE, Putney Heath, from 10am-12.00pm.

The Wandsworth Grant Fund provides funding of between £500 – 10,000 for suitable projects through six council priorities:

  1. Arts and Culture
  2. Environment and Attractive Neighbourhoods
  3. Children and Young People
  4. Citizenship and Civic Engagement
  5. Achieving Aspirations and Potential
  6. Health and Well being

The Community & Partnership team administers the grants process while evaluation and assessment is undertaken by a group of specialist council officers.

Applications also receive a high level of scrutiny by councillors to ensure money is going where it is most needed and will have most benefit for the borough’s residents.  Local Ward councillor endorsement of each application is required, details of which is contained within the Guidance notes.

In 2016/17, 72 Awards were made totalling £268,487. This includes 25 Awards totalling £35,063 allocated specifically towards the Wandsworth Arts Fringe to be held in May 2017.

The Youth Opportunity Fund still remains separate as it is allocated by young people, for young people.

Bidding for Round 5 starts on March 1st and closes on April 18th.  The Final decisions are announced on June 20th 2017.

Applications are particularly encouraged from small borough based organisations and groups, for grants of between £500 and £10,000. Priority will be given to those applying for Small (£500 – 1,000) and Intermediate (£1,001 – 5,000) grants. Organisations based outside the borough are welcome also to apply, but do need to show real concrete local engagement with local partners and appropriate council teams in order to avoid duplication of work.
