On Saturday 6th May WCEN and Mushkil Aasaan held a Community Health Event to encourage members of the community to have their NHS health check.
The NHS Health Check is a health check-up for adults in England aged 40-74. It’s designed to spot early signs of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, type 2 diabetes or dementia. As we get older, we have a higher risk of developing one of these conditions. An NHS Health Check helps find ways to lower this risk.
We will be working alongside Battersea Healthcare (www.bhcic.co.uk) to deliver health checks to the community. We look to target those from BME and hard to reach communities who fit the following criteria:
-Registered with a GP in Wandsworth
-Not had a health check within the last 5 years
-Aged between 40-74
-Not have any known pre-existing medical conditions as per standard Health Check criteria
We also had stalls of henna, hijama therapy, clothes, Citizen’s Advice Wandsworth, My Productive Health, Diabetes Champions, Paul’s Cancer Asian Support Group, Air Pollution with Wandsworth Council, Healthy Ramadan, WCEn, Mushkil Aasaan, Sand Therapy, Little Village and complimentary food from Dawat.
