BATCA Community Fun Day 2017

Uniting our community, celebrating our diversity

12noon – 5pm Saturday 15th July

Broadwater Road, Tooting, London SW17 0EU

Tooting unites again at the Community Fun Day on 15th July, when we expect even larger crowds from all faiths, cultures and backgrounds to come together for a day of fun and enjoyment for all ages.
Fun Days run by BATCA and partners have been a much loved feature of Tooting’s summer calendar for several years and our event has become known as a unique contribution to bringing our community together.

Plans feature:

  • fun for everyone, with fairground rides, inflatables, superb multicultural food, stalls, entertainers, children’s activities including crafts, games, face painting, sports etc
  • a large, safe space for mingling, relaxing and eating through the road being closed to traffic
  • a ‘market place’ for community groups to engage with a wider public and promote their work
  • special themes
    • old and young together: promoting learning between the generations through workshops, reminiscense sessions etc
    • healthy living: free health checks and healthy lifestyle advice
  • VIPs anticipated include the MP for Tooting and the Mayor of Wandsworth
  • proceeds go to good local causes
  • BIG CROWDS! matching the 3000-4000 at the last Fun Day.

The Fun Day is organised by a partnership of three bodies: the Al Risalah Trust and its schools (Gatton Muslim Primary School, Al Risalah Secondary School and Orchard Primary School) St Augustine’s Church, and the Balham and Tooting Community Association (BATCA) together with others.  Civic and faith leaders have praised the Fun Day’s contribution to building a cohesive, resilient community.
